We hope you'll get in the spirit of our "Loony" theme and come to the Welcome Party in costume -- dressed to reflect your dog's personality. Like - I'm in sweats, my dog's a couch potato; or I'm in prison blues, my dog's an outlaw; or I'm wearing a tiara, my dog's a princess. Use your imagination - let's see if we can guess what you think your dog's personality is. Prizes for the best costumes.
The Welcome Party will be held Monday evening at the Marriott (Headquarters Hotel). This is a great way to start the week, renew acquaintances and get in the spirit for a great Specialty. We hope you'll try to make it. Please use the green Hospitality Reservation Form to indicate if you're planning on coming. There is no charge (other than a cash bar), but we need to let the hotel know how many to plan for. We'll have a buffet of special Minnesota cuisine.
There will be an eye clinic on Tuesday. Dr. Dennis Olivero, DVM, Diplomate, A.C.V.O., will do CERF and glaucoma exams. Cost is $18.00 per dog for CERF and $5.00 per dog for glaucoma. Please use the green Hospitality Reservation Form for appointments.
ANNUAL MEETING AND HEALTH SEMINAR
The Annual Meeting of the Society will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. After the business portion of the meeting, Dr. Terri King will present a program on the progress of her cancer study as well as the Ohio State Cancer Study. Doris Ehret will have a preliminary report on the findings of the Sharon Myers Health Survey. You won't want to miss these updates on the very important studies being done on the health of the Flat-Coated Retriever.
Always a highlight of the week, the Awards Banquet will be held at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday evening after judging of Best of Breed. There will be a silent auction during the cocktail hour and the regular auction after the banquet. Auction proceeds this year will go to the AKC Canine Health Foundation.
Dinner selections are Minnesota Chicken, filled with wild rice and Gouda cheese; 3-Pepper Beef with wild mushroom sauce; and Walleye Pike with a hazelnut crust. All dinners include appetizer, salad, accompaniments, rolls, dessert and beverage. Please use the green Hospitality Reservation Form for reservations.
